BENGALURU: Twelve International passengers have tested positive for Covid-19 during random tests at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru till Monday. They include one each from Hong Kong, America, Phuket (Thailand), Maldives, London, two each from Australia and Singapore, and three from Dubai.
Of these, one case each case is of Udupi and Tumakur districts and the remaining are from Bengaluru.
Corona has been detected among those who had travelled to Sydney, Hong Kong, London, Dubai and Maldives. All the samples have been sent for genome sequencing to the Health Department.
Out of 12, four international passengers were treated at a private hospital and others are in home isolation.
There were 241 sample collections at Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday. One positive case was detected among the 241 samples. Random tests are conducted for 100 to 150 travellers every day.
Bengaluru Rural DHO Vijayendra, speaking to Public TV over phone, said, “The Bengaluru-based person arrived on December 23 and the sample was collected the same date. The report came on Sunday and it was found positive. The BBMP Health Department is currently monitoring him. Another person who came from Hong Kong to Bengaluru on December 10 is currently in home isolation. The samples have been sent for genome sequencing to detect the virus variant. The central government has declared Hong Kong as a high risk country”.
