BENGALURU: A total of 114 ‘Namma Clinic’ will be inaugurated at one go by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on December 14 across the state, except BBMP area. These clinics will provide healthcare needs to the urban poor, especially people falling below the poverty line and people living in huts, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar announced on Monday.
A total of 438 Namma Clinics are set to begin operating in Karnataka. In the first phase, 243 Namma Clinics will open, and another 115 clinics are planned to open in January, mostly in BBMP limits. Each Namma Clinic will have a doctor, a nurse, a lab technician and a Group-D employee, he said.
The Namma Clinics will be open from 9 am to 4.30 pm and will be equipped with all the equipment necessary for the treatment. Fourteen types of medical tests will be conducted, including geriatric care, emergency services, ENT, mental health counselling, cancer testing, respiratory problems, care of pregnant women and new-born babies, and many more, the minister said.
“Namma Clinics will be inaugurated on December 14. We will start the opening from Dharwad. We had planned to set up 438 clinics this year, but 114 clinics will be inaugurated at one go by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The Namma Clinic will be inaugurated in all 30 districts except the BBMP area. After 15 days, we will open 150 Namma Clinics in Bengaluru by January. This will be beneficial for the urban poor. Around 14 types of services will be available and almost every kind of treatment, including mental wellness, will be provided. Medication, diagnosis, and treatment will free. The clinics will also have teleconsultation services”, Sudhakar said.
