108-foot-tall statue of Male Mahadeshwara at MM Hills illuminated for Mahashivaratri

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The festival of Mahashivaratri was observed on a grand scale at the Male Mahadeshwara (MM) Hills in Hanur taluk on Wednesday. To mark the occasion, the 108-foot-tall statue of Lord Male Mahadeshwara, astride a tiger, was illuminated, providing a magnificent sight.

Special arrangements had been made for lighting of lamps at the temple on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. A large number of devotees participated in the celebration and were awestruck by the illumination of the statue.

Mahashivaratri, known as the night of Lord Shiva, is observed with great fervour across the country. Generally, Mahashivaratri falls on the 13th night or 14th day of the lunar-solar month, as per the lunar calendar.
