10 people travelling in tractor rescued from Tungabhadra river

BALLARI: A tractor carrying 10 people from Bavihalli got stuck in the Tungabhadra river in Vijayanagara district after the driver attempted to cross the river, ignoring a nearby bridge.

The incident occurred near Navali village in Hoovinahadagali taluk, and the tractor got stuck in the middle of the river due to strong water currents. Fishermen quickly responded and rescued all 10 people using a coracle. The tractor was later retrieved using an excavator.

The driver, who was trying to reach the Singatalur Veerabhadreshwara temple fair, has been criticised for his reckless decision, which put everyone’s lives at risk. Luckily, no one was seriously injured.
