BENGALURU: Following the arrest of a Pakistani national and his Bangladeshi wife in Jigani and the subsequent arrest of a family of three and also the main suspect Parvez from the city railway station, the city police have arrested 10 more Pakistani nationals.

The arrested include four men and six women. On Wednesday, they were taken to the government hospital in Anekal for medical examination and later produced before a judge. With this, the number of Pakistani nationals arrested in the city has risen to 22. This includes a couple and their daughter who were living on Andrahalli Main Road in Peenya.

The arrested Pakistani nationals were subjected to a medical checkup before being produced in court.

Based on information provided by the arrested Pakistani nationals, the police have sent out teams to Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad and are on the lookout for those who were in touch with the Mehdi Foundation. It is suspected that many more Pakistanis are living illegally in different parts of the country and more arrests are likely.

Syed Tariq, his wife and daughter had been living on Andrahalli Main Road in Peenya since 2019.

The couple arrested from Andrahalli had been living illegally in the city for the last three years and would mostly remain indoors. Syed Tariq, his wife and daughter had changed their names and barely maintained contact with the outside world, police said.

The couple entered India in 2015 and came to Bengaluru in 2019 and were involved in propagating Islam through YouTube. They would get funds for sustenance from some organisation. They had even got Aadhaar cards done in fake names. They were caught by the Jigani police on October 3.
