BENGALURU: After being shut for 15 days, about 10 Indira canteens in the BBMP South Zone, have reopened. The canteens were shut down because the BBMP had not released the arrears to Chef Talk, which was contracted to supply food to these canteens. Besides this, water and electricity bills had not been paid.

The issue was reported by Public TV three days ago. Following the report, the BBMP officials took action and resolved the issue, allowing for the canteens to reopen.

The canteens have reopened in 10 places, including those in Jayanagar Ward 153, Basavanagudi, V V Puram, Adugodi, Padmanabhanagar and other places. Except for the canteen near Nimhans Hospital, all the other canteens have reopened.

The Jayanagar 153 ward canteen, which was inaugurated by Rahul Gandhi, had also closed, but has now re-started. Many people are still unaware that the canteens have reopened, resulting in a low turnout of customers. However, the canteens are now functioning as before.
