BENGALURU: A one-and-half-year-old child, who had been sold by his mother four years ago without her husband’s knowledge, was reunited with the father at Anekal on Tuesday.

Balamani and Mamatha got married in 2012 at Ballur village in Anekal taluk. The couple had two children. In 2018, due to misunderstandings and a fight between the couple, Balamani moved to Jayanagar for work. When he returned to the village after 45 days, he could not find his baby boy. He inquired about the child with his wife and she replied that child was in a hostel.

Balamani got suspicious about his wife’s behaviour and asked about the child’s whereabouts. He later got to know that she had given the child to someone else. They fought again and Mamatha registered a complaint against her husband near Hosur Sipcot police station. When he went for the inquiry to the police station, she left her daughter and went away.

Attibele Police Station

Ever since, Balamani has been taking care of the daughter and for the last four years, he has been searching for his child. Distraught, he recently informed Aam Aadmi Party members about the missing child, and party members informed the Attibele police through their leader Bhaskar Rao, who is former Bengaluru police commissioner.

The police finally traced the missing child to a village near Erode, Tamil Nadu, and brought to Attibele police station where he was handed over to the father.

“In 2018, there was a misunderstanding between me and my wife and she gave our child to someone else. I searched for our son everywhere in Karnataka as well as in Tamil Nadu. The police were not registering my complaint. Later, I informed Aam Admi Party members about the case.  The police and AAP members helped and supported me to find my child”, said Balamani, the child’s father.
