BENGALURU: The Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have seized 1.166 kg of gold worth Rs 72.67 lakh from five passengers in three separate cases. While one passenger was a Sri Lankan national, the others were Indian nationals.
The traveller from Colombo, upon arrival, tried to hand over the gold to someone else, but both were apprehended by the police.
In the other incidents, the passengers were trying to smuggle in gold in the form of gold chains and biscuits. Further investigation is under way.
