Incited by his companion Mamta (Anushka Sharma), Mauji (Varun Dhawan) agrees to gully his arduous heads for his private tailoring biz. But amongst pessimists, unprincipled relatives and uncooperativeness will his vision of becoming an entrepreneur turn into a reality?
“Sab badhiya hai,” is Mauji’s reply to everyday clashes for an average life. In them, is a commute-heavy job, heads who utilize him for personal tasks and amusement, an angry dad, an ill mom and a wedding sans love. His companion has no time for love between daily jobs. Following an actual honest quarrelsome scene with his heads, Mauji leaves to start something of his own.
Sui Dhaaga is full of such simple everyday battles and answers that are flawlessly woven into the story.
But, these are negligible patches in the complete fabric of the movie, which is cut for showbiz. Sui Dhaaga is stitched together with sturdy recitals and flashes that tell a substantial tale.
As per the early analysis, ‘Sui Dhaaga’ could make around Rs 7 crore on its first day that would be a quite fair opening, says film analysts.
Movie trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “While promotions were done well, content remains the king,”.
“After the opening, it all depends on word-of-mouth publicity. If word of mouth is strong, then the film can double the opening money in its second day itself. But first, the audience has to approve of the unconventional characters played by Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma,” Atul Mohan stated.
“Varun is popular for his glamorous roles in films that have jazzy sets, flamboyant scripts and a lot of song and dance. This is a different kind of a role. While Badlapur and October have been appreciated for Varun’s maturity as an actor, they weren’t quite a commercial hit,” Mohan added.
A mid-budget movie produced with around Rs 30 crore, Sui Dhaaga has its task cut out. Some of Varun Dhawan’s movies that have been major hits comprise Judwaa 2 that raked in Rs 140 crore, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which gathered up around Rs 117 crore, Dilwale, which almost earned Rs 150 crore and Dishoom that raked in Rs 70 crore.
