Talking about his casting process in the film Sanjay told to HT, he didn’t bag this part because of Sonam the director the saw the actor in him. “The only thing that works right now is the chemistry between us. As an actor, you have to work on your character. Abhishek Sharma (director) didn’t sign me because I was Sonam’s uncle, (he did so) because he saw the actor in me, and felt that I’d suit the character.” Sanjay’s brother and Sonam’s father Anil wished the team on his twitter account and wrote, “To a new beginning! All the best to the whole team of #The Zoya Factor! Let the madness takeover!”

Talking about the film, The Zoya Factor is based on the novel of the same name. Sonam is essaying the role of Zoya, while Dulquer will portray the character of Nikhil Khoda, the skipper of the Indian cricket team. While in the book, the character hailed from the north, in the movie, he will hail from the south. The story is about a girl, who is suddenly looked at as a lucky mascot by the Indian Cricket team as she was born on the same day India won the 1983 World Cup. but the newly appointed skipper Nikhil Khoda is not too amused with her.. While both are at loggerheads, there is an undeniable chemistry the two share. All in all it’s fun romantic ride with cricket involved. A few changes have been made to film’s script. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on April 5, 2019, and will lock horns with Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee.
