Sanju enters the Rs 250 crore club at the worldwide box office

Director Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju is on its way to becoming a blockbuster at the box office. The biographical is not only creating a havoc at the domestic market but also shattering records in the international circuits. Till now, the film has grossed Rs 209.38 crore (net Rs 167.51 crore) in India and Rs 55 crore at the overseas box office. Sanju currently stands with the grand total of Rs 264.38 crore at the worldwide box office. It will enter the Rs 300 crore club by the end of its opening week at the box office.

Talking about the international markets, the film has performed phenomenally well in UK, USA, Australia and Canada. Coming to India, Sanju has already become the third highest grosser of the year after Padmaaavat and Race 3. It will surpass the business of the Salman Khan starrer today to grab the second spot in the list. Interestingly, by tomorrow or Friday, Sanju will surpass the lifetime business of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and will emerge as the biggest hit of Ranbir Kapoor’s career.

Talking about Sanju, the film brings to fore the life and times of Bollywood’s controversial actor Sanjay Dutt. His bond with his father Sunil Dutt, his many romantic affairs, brushes with the underworld, addictions and his prison time among other things have all found their way in the film. It features the ensemble cast of Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles.
