Ranbir Kapoor’s life has been a roller coaster ride which has seen many ups and downs. When Ranbir was in his teens he had seen his parents going through a troubled marriage, he used to spend his night sitting on stairs. He started his career as an associate assistant director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Black movie. Ranbir being a beginner was ill-treated on the sets of Black.

The acting career of Ranbir started from the movie ‘Saawariya’, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the year 2007. The movie failed on box-office, but he won the Best Male Debut trophy at Filmfare. Later in 2008, he did Bachna Ae Haseeno, where he portrayed the role of a womanizer and so he in his real life. The film was his first commercial success on Box-office and, the era of Ranbir Kapoor began.
In 2009, ‘Wake Up Sid’ released and Ranbir turned favorite of every teenage guy. In the movie, Ranbir characterized the role of a rich lazy teenager, who turns career-oriented when kicked out of the house. However, the film went on to become a hit.
In the same year, he did ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’, which was a super hit movie of that time. Ranbir explores his comic side in this movie. Ranbir was grooming after every movie he was doing.
In late 2009, he played the role of Punjabi salesman in the movie ‘Rocket Singh’, he was appreciated by the critics for his prominent acting. Ranbir was awarded the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his performances in all three of his 2009 releases.
In 2010, Ranbir was part of a big budget movie ‘Rajneeti’, the movie also cast many big names like Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgn. But the young Kapoor grabbed all the attention through his phenomenal acting. Ranbir showed the other quality of him. He received a third Best Actor nomination at Filmfare for the film. Later in this year, he collaborated with Priyanka Chopra in ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, the movie story was where two strangers meet and fall in love. The film was an average hit but received little praise from the critics.
In 2011, Ranbir made us believe that he is the best among all the Kapoor’s and was competition to the Khan’s. Rockstar released in theatres, the aggressive acting of Ranbir and brilliant music by A.R.Rehman was the reason for watching this movie. Though the story and direction of Imtiaz were amazing, still Ranbir and Rehman stole the show. The journey of an aspiring musician from a humble background to international stardom. Ranbir won both the Best Actor and Best Actor (Critics) trophies at the 57th Filmfare Award ceremony, along with Best Actor awards at Screen and IIFA.
Later on, Ranbir was seen in Barfi who is deaf and a mute man, where he falls in love with an engaged woman. The film was submitted as India’s official entry for the 85th Academy Award and was screened at the Busan International Film Festival. Ranbir also won second consecutive Best Actor awards at the Filmfare, Screen and IIFA Award ceremonies.
In 2013, he played the famous role of Kabir which is famous among teens till date. ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, where he was depicted as a committed director-traveler. The movie emerged as one of the Highest Grossing Films of all times.
The good time of the heartthrob stopped, as consecutive flops from Beshram, Roy and Bombay Velvet. In 2015, the pair of Ranbir and Deepika was back together in Imtiaz Ali directed ‘Tamasha’. The film did average but the acting of Ranbir got him a slot in best actor nomination list.
In 2016, he melted every heart through his acting in the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ directed by Karan Johar. The movie was a success on box-office. Recently, he acted in an art movie ‘Jagga Jasoos’, which failed to earn but his acting proved he is not like everyone.
The year 2018 proved to be a great one for Ranbir as after a long time, he bounced back on the big screens with Sanju, the biopic based on Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt’s life. The talented star won hearts with his mind-blowing acting and the way he got in the skin of Sanjay’s character. The film is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.
