The prognosis of growing popularity of content on digital platforms can’t only be the decreasing attention span of the audience. Digital platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime have become popular by curating content that provides relief from the regular saas-bahu drama. No wonder, a plethora of Bollywood actors do not mind turning to the digital medium. We love these daring actors for their bold step. Here is a list of our favourite actors who took up digital content and aced it.

Rajkummar Rao (Bose)

A dramatised adaptation of Anuj Dhar’s novel ‘India’s Biggest Cover-up,’ Rajkummar Rao’s Bose gives an investigative insight into India’s most classified secret – Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death. The captivating plot, thrilling screenplay, heart-thumping music, combined with stellar performances make Bose: Dead or Alive a must-watch.

Ali Fazal (Bang Baaja Baaraat)

Ali Fazal might be looking at establishing a base in Hollywood now, but one of his most impressive work is in the limited web-series, Bang Baaja Baaraat. The web-series had left the audience impressed. However, it didn’t get a second inning, much to our disappointment.

Vivek Oberoi-Richa Chadha (Inside Edge)

The actors turned to the digital medium with Amazon Prime’s original, Inside Edge. The series and even the stars earned immense praise from the critics. The series is set around the IPL which is as it is popular in India, to begin with. Then the strong acting and a great story drew more audience to click play.

R Madhavan-Amit Sadh (Breathe)

Probably the most phenomenal entry in the list is Amazon Prime’s Breathe. The 8-episode web series has earned critical acclaim like no other web series in India. Fans find it impossible to believe that it is the nation’s heartthrob, Madhavan, playing such a gritty and negative character. And to see Amit deliver a performance to match that so effortlessly is extraordinary.

Lisa Haydon (The Trip)

Before she got married, Lisa changed her course from films and went on The Trip – a story about four women, who go on a road trip to Thailand, was a dream-come-true for every girl out there. We have seen so many movies about men going on a road trip and seriously wanted one about women.

Vicky Kaushal (Love Per Square Foot)

Vicky teamed up with Angira Dhar of Bang Baaja Baaraat for this romantic film. The film is not a Netflix commission but has been acquired by the streaming mogul as their original. Well, the movie hits home and should be on your watch list for sure.

Nimrat Kaur (The Test Case)

This innovative series about the first female combat in a special unit of Indian army is impressive to the core. Presented by ALT Balaji, the web series was in production hell for the longest time. But we can’t be happier that it found backers and we got to see a piece of art so powerful.

Saif Ali Khan-Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Sacred Games)

In Netflix’s first original Indian series, we will see Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui take up the lead roles. The first look of the series was released recently and we can’t be more excited to binge watch it. With such a stellar star cast, agreeing to be a part of Sacred Games, it is evident enough that the next big thing is the digital platform. The series is yet to be released by Netflix.
