Oh No! Rajpal Yadav and wife convicted in a loan case worth Rs 5 crore; arguments to resume on April 23

A Delhi court on Saturday (April 14) convicted Bollywood actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav, his wife Radha Yadav and a company in connection with a loan case. An argument on the court’s order is likely to be heard on April 23. For those of you who don’t know, Rajpal and his wife allegedly failed to repay a loan of Rs 5 crore which the actor had taken from a Delhi-based businessman for his directorial debut (Ata Pata Laapata) in 2010. Earlier in 2013, Yadav was even sent to Tihar Jail from December 3 to December 6 for submitting a false affidavit in the case. He was released on bail, but the case has been going on in the Delhi court ever since.

On Saturday, the court convicted him but the arguments will resume on April 23. As ANI mentioned on Twitter, “#Delhi’s Karkardooma Court convicted Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, his wife, and a company yesterday, in a recovery suit filed against them for failing to repay a loan amount of Rs 5 crore which they had taken in 2010 for his directorial debut.”

The case is about Rajpal Yadav’s film Ata Pata Laapata, which was made by Yadav himself. The actor had allegedly taken a sum of Rs 5 crore from a businessman for the same film. The movie released and proved to be a dud at the box office, but Yadav apparently hasn’t paid him back. So the businessman had filed a case against Rajpal Yadav and his wife.
