Kriti Sanon spurred quite a controversy today after a picture from her recent photoshoot for Cosmopolitan India went viral. Although the Bareilly ki Barfi actress posed for the magazine’s cover in the choicest outfit, the backdrop had a stuffed giraffe just hanging in the air along with other props. And that did not go down well with a lot of people and animal activists who thought it was distasteful. If you haven’t seen the picture already, here’s how it looked.

“I’m not someone who gets angry easily, but when I read about atrocities against women, it really upsets me.” Meet our cover girl @kritisanon being her candid self in our August issue.✨ PS: Aynhoe Park features taxidermy, hundreds of years old, most from museums. Taxidermy is the art of preserving an animal that died of natural causes, for academic purposes. The giraffe featured here is floating (not hanging, heavens no!) with balloons on its back. An art installation, in what is possibly one of the eclectic yet most majestic mansions in the world. PPS: Cosmo loves, no, is obsessed with animals. We were, possibly, the first magazine in India to ban the featuring of fur, three years ago. No animals were harmed before, during, or after this shoot. We may be guilty of watching too many puppy videos during work hours, though. The shoot took place at Aynhoe Park, which is well known for being filled with taxidermied animals. (Taxidermy is the art of preserving an animal’s body by mounting with the help of a stand for the purpose of display or study.) However, the pictures created quite an uproar on social media where netizens criticized her for the act.

But the actress has finally responded to the flak. According to The Quint, she said, “It was a normal photoshoot in a palace kind of hotel in London; the decor was in the wildlife zone. It’s all fake. I am an animal lover.” While that was that, only time if this will save Kriti from the backlash. Until then, let us know what you feel about the entire episode.
