After delivering an intense performance in Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor is back with a light-hearted film Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is based on a social issue. The film’s trailer had received a good response from the public and today the movie has released on the big screen. So before you hit the ticket-window for the watching, take a look at the quick movie review.

Shahid and his two friends Shraddha Kapoor and Divyenndu Sharmaa are best friends in the flick. Everything was going well until one-day things turn worse when Divyenndu’s new business set-up faces a huge electricity bill of 54 lakhs. The film’s story is taken forward how the two friends face a lot of issues to provide justice to Divyenndu.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is based on the social issue that every common man faces in various parts of our country and that is lack of power supply. But for all its good intentions, BGMC is also a fairly flawed film.

The makers have shown the bad side of the concerned authorities who are responsible for making a common man’s life a hell for overcharging them with the bill and also cutting off their connection if the bill is not paid. It is a story that needs to be told, undoubtedly, but the runtime just robs the movie of its impact.

There are some best moments in the film which include the sweet camaraderie of Shahid and Divyenndu. Also, Shahid and Shraddha’s romance which is a pure delight to watch.

We will see Shahid’s two sides in the movie, while in the first half, he is all happy-go-lucky types but he transforms into a serious guy who is taking efforts to provide justice for his dear friend. The real drama starts in the second half and keeps us glued. Oh ya, Shahid’s monologue in the film is the major highlight in the second half.

The film also stars Yami Gautam who plays the lawyer. However, her role is a small one and doesn’t create a much impact.

All in all, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is good to watch as it gets well-connected to the commoners who have actually faced this issue.

The movie deserves 3 stars.
