Aamir Khan Replaced Sanjay Dutt In One Of The Classic Period Drama Films

Aamir Khan is the Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood and there’s no doubt in that. The 52-year-old leaves no stone unturned to get into the skin of his character in his each and every movie. Aamir has gone through major transformations in all his movies leaving everyone stunned.

Mangal Pandey was one of the films where the actor took a lot of efforts on his looks. He had grown his hair and moustache and also learnt the right dialect to fit properly in to his role. The film is one of the classic period dramas of Bollywood.

But do you guys know that Aamir was the first choice for this? Yes, you heard it right!

In 1995, the film was started with the title Kissa Kartoos, where Sanjay Dutt played the character of Mangal Pandey. Bombay actress Manisha Koirala was cast opposite him. However, Sanju Baba got arrested and the film was sent to the backburner.

The film saw the light of the day in 2004 with a fresh new cast which featured Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Ameesha Patel and Kirron Kher.

Mangal Pandey landed into a big controversy as the film’s plot portrayed a relationship between Mangal Pandey and a prostitute.

The film was highly applauded by the critics and also earned a decent amount at the box-office.

However, in spite of Aamir’s impeccable performance, we would have loved Sanjay Dutt playing the warrior.
